Interview with Meier Ziss (German), 1983 (Hagen) Worked as a fifteen year old in the baracks sorting clothes. Once he had attached himself to the partizans after the uprising he again felt free and happy: "there, I counted as a person".
Meier Ziss (Lublin, 15 November 1927) arrived in Sobibor in June 1942. First he worked as a barber, later, as "Brandmeister", he was required to burn the abandoned documents of those who had just been transported to the camp. In the camp he heard that his parents had been killed and he "wanted to die with them". Once he had attached himself to the partizans after the uprising he again felt free and happy: "There, I counted as a person".
